>>AUDITIONS

Auditions have been slated for the New Ground Theatre production of August: Osage County by Tracy Letts. The play won the 2008 Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama and New Ground is ecstatic to be one of the first theatres in the country to produce the show outside of the Steppenwolf and Broadway productions.

One of the most bracing and critically acclaimed dramas of the 21st Century, August: Osage County is a portrait of a dysfunctional family at its finest - and worst. When the patriarch of the Weston family disappears, the family reunites at the Oklahoma homestead where long-held secrets are revealed. The production will be directed by Derek Bertelsen.

Auditions will take place Friday, July 23 from 7:00-9:00 and Saturday, July 24 from 1:00-3:00. The cast is comprised of 6 men (ages ranging from early 30s to mid 60s) and 7 women (ages ranging from mid 20s to mid 60s). A teenage girl is also needed to play the role of Jean. The production does include strong language and adult themes. Auditionees are asked to come prepared to read from the script. Resumes and headshots will be accepted but are not required to audition for the play. All actors are compensated.

August: Osage County will be performed at the Village Theatre with the production running from October 15-24. Rehearsals will begin in September. If you cannot make the scheduled audition dates/times or for more information regarding the production, please email director Derek Bertelsen at derekmichaelwest@gmail.com.
